FAQ for Prestissimo
Q: Is Prestissimo compatible with Mac OS 9.0 ?
A: Prestissimo is fully compatible with Mac OS 9 while not using the Multi User feature. If Multi Users are active then if one user disables the application palette then no user will have access to the application palette.

Q: Is Prestissimo compatible with Mac OS 8.6 ?
A: Yes, Prestissimo is fully compatible with Mac OS 8.6. It has also been tested against the next revision of Mac OS codenamed Sonata.

Q: Is Prestissimo Year 2000 compliant ?
A: Prestissimo does not use dates so is completely Year 2000 compliant.

Q: What are the major new features of Prestissimo 1.5 ?
A: Completely new user interface including the ability to stop the application menu from tearing-off, optimized communications with the application switcher extension and fully appearance savviness.

Q: Does Prestissimo patch any traps or add any possibly buggy code to my system ?
A: No, Prestissimo simply reveals the functionality already present in Mac OS 8.5. The advantage of this is that by adding Prestissimo you are not adding any instability to your computer. The disadvantage is that the functionality provided is limited to what the very talented Apple engineers have provided.

Q: Does Prestissimo have to be in the Control Panels folder ?
A: No, you can keep Prestissimo anywhere you want, we just decided that the Control Panels folder was a logical place for it.

Q: Why when I change the arrow position in the Scroll Bar tab does nothing happen ?
A: Currently if you are using Kaleidoscope these settings have no effect because Kaleidoscope controls the arrow position. According to Greg Landweber co-author of Kaleidoscope a future version of Kaleidoscope may support all of the options available to Prestissimo users.

Q: Why can't Prestissimo make the application palette lock to a screen corner on a second monitor ?
A: Prestissimo is controlling a component of Mac OS 8.5 in the application palette tab so there are inherent limitations as it depends on Apple to provide the underlining functionality. Unfortunately, there is no current method to specify position on a second monitor at this time, although we have made Apple aware of the problem.

Q: Why when I make the maximum name width larger in the application palette tab does the size of the window not change ?
A: The width you specify is the maximum width for the name of the application. The window will only get wider if the longest application name cannot fit in the window.

Q: Why does clicking on an application in the palette sometimes do nothing ?
A: There is a bug in the application switcher which causes this problem if the button order is set to reverse launch order. Apple is aware of and has acknowledged the bug and hopefully will fix it some time in the future .

Q: Why doesn't Prestissimo give me the ability to set Command-Q to be the application switching key, like the provided Mac OS Help does ?

A: PolyMorph Software Development decided to not offer this functionality so as to not confuse users.

Q: Why when I run Prestissimo 1.0 does it fail with an unexpected error -43 ?
A: This error is caused by the Application Switcher extension not being present in the Extension folder. Prestissimo requires this extension to be present even if the application palette is not being used. Prestissimo 1.0.1 improves the error message.

Q: When will <insert your favorite feature here> be implemented ?
A: PolyMorph Software Development has decided to stop development on Prestissimo. We will fully support it but do not expect to add any major new features.
